These were specially designed in the style of the camouflage shirts that United Mine Workers union members show up in every time they’re out in force fighting for their member’s rights! The UMWA Local 1440 in Matewan is central to the story of the Mine Wars era that we tell in our museum, and this shirt especially honors their historical legacy as well as their continued commitment to community work in the town of Matewan.

The back of the shirt bears a quote from the indomitable Mother Jones that helped inspire the creation of our Museum:
"I will tell the truth wherever I please!"
