Our recent gallery opening on August 9th was a memorable event, filled with the voices of the brave Appalachian educators who stood loud and firm in the strikes of '90, '18, and '19.
The opening event received a lot of attention with articles in the Herald Dispatch, Charleston Gazette-Mail, Mingo Messenger, and Williamson Daily News. The room echoed with the passion once felt inside the state capitol's walls, as former and present educators spoke about their unwavering commitment to public education and the challenges they continue to face.
The state of public education may be uncertain, but these educators have wisdom to share. As vacancies multiply nationwide, the just cause of West Virginia's teachers and service personnel rings truer than ever. Their fight goes beyond pay and benefits, and is reaching into a societal shift for respect for the profession. Their personal growth and collective efforts continue to inspire us all.

This new exhibit, The Children of Mother Jones: West Virginia Educators' Strikes as Care Work, runs for one year. We’ve only got 10 weeks left of our 2023 season, as our last day for public walk in ours is Saturday, November 18! If you haven’t done so yet, now’s the time to plan your visit for 2023.
